A long-standing partnership and a reliable partner create a strong foundation for success. Dinair Clean Air Oy and Dahl Suomi Oy have been working together for a long time, creating added value for both Dahl and its customers.

Dahl is a leading wholesale distributor of HVAC products, municipal engineering solutions, and industrial piping products in the Nordic and Baltic regions, known for its excellent service. The company operates in the Nordic countries, Estonia, and Lithuania, and is part of Saint-Gobain, the world’s leading building materials group.

Dahl Suomi Oy began its operations on the Finnish market in 1995. Currently, the company serves its customers at over 30 service points in 30 locations.

Jukka Niittyaro, who joined the company 4.5 years ago, works as a purchasing manager at Dahl. His responsibilities include the procurement of ventilation and specialty products, as well as sales-related matters.

“I’ve been in the industry for 39 years, and next year I’ll hit the 40-year mark. I’ve been with the same employer for 34 years. Ventilation and filters are a big part of my job. It’s important that a supplier knows their products and can respond quickly. At heart, I’m an old-school salesman, which is why I also value in-person meetings,” says Jukka Niittyaro.

The collaboration began in 2011, and this year marks the 15th anniversary of our partnership. Jukka reflects: “Dahl has been operating in Finland for 30 years, so you could say our collaboration has lasted half of Dahl’s history. We’ve walked this journey hand in hand.”

Petri Väikäs, Regional Manager for Häme and Pirkanmaa, has been part of the collaboration with Dinair from the very beginning. “We had a discussion with another person from Dahl, and that’s how our collaboration began.” At the kickoff meeting, we discussed together what the best way to proceed would be. We decided to create a separate order form for each product. After that, we can ship the products to their offices or directly to the customer’s location.”

Dahl and its customers trust Dinair
Dahl and its customers use Dinair filters. “Customers have two options: they can either purchase through Dahl or order filters directly from us. Our filters are also installed in Dahl’s buildings,” says Petri.

“Working with Dinair has been easy. We stock the filters at our main warehouses at a minimum, but if necessary, each of our local locations can make their own decisions about stocking products locally as well, allowing us to respond immediately to regional needs.

“Turnaround time plays a major role in our business, and Dinair meets this need with fast service and delivery,” Jukka explains.

Filters can be shipped from the main warehouse to other locations and customer sites across the country. “Customers have come to expect a certain level of quality and the products we offer. Dahl is a major brand, so the quality of the filters must also be checked at regular intervals,” Petri points out.

Being a domestic company also contributes to Dinair’s reliability and boosts Dahl’s competitiveness. “Dinair is a domestic company, and their factory in Kausala ensures reliable delivery for us. We don’t have to order a lot of filters in advance, and when ordering from abroad, many factors affect delivery times. Another strength of a local supplier is their strong sales and customer service focus,” Jukka notes.

A long-standing partnership enables process development. Dinair shares information about new products and provides hands-on training to Dahl. “Whenever we’ve developed a new product, we’ve invited Dahl to visit our facilities and trained them,” says Petri.

Jukka feels that the collaboration has gone very well over the years. “Dinair has responded well to contact requests that many other companies might not respond to as quickly. They have also provided sufficient information about the filters and their sales.”

Along the way, several changes and projects have been implemented to improve the availability and quality of the filters. Changes are also taking place in the HVAC sector, to which both companies must adapt.

“I still consider the collaboration to be positive and view Dinair more as a partner. We’ve also found that complaints are handled quickly, and Dinair actually makes the necessary changes,” Niittyaro explains.

Complaint handling is in good shape at Dinair, a point Väikäs also agrees with. “If a complaint comes in, it’s forwarded to us, and we handle it internally first. We consider the necessary changes and implement corrective measures professionally. We also listen to the customer at various stages of the process.”

Dinair and Dahl will continue their partnership. “We have strived to operate reliably and continuously improve our processes,” says Väikäs.

“I see Dinair more as a partner than a supplier. Our 15-year collaboration has demonstrated their ability to manufacture filters that meet today’s requirements. They provide us with up-to-date information and training on industry changes and new products, among other things. We’ve gotten exactly what we’ve asked for. It’s been handled well and professionally, which has also helped build and strengthen our trust,” Jukka reflects.
